Every wonder what life looks like for a working mom? Well, it’s something like this:
11:00 p.m. (the night before) Toddler wakes up.
12:00 a.m. (the night before) After an hour of trying to get her back down, toddler still awake. Decide to take baby in bed with husband and me to go to sleep. Toddler chatters, thumbs through a book, pulls my hair, and kicks me in the head multiple times.
12:45 a.m. (the night before) Husband attempts to put toddler into bed. I hear, “Mooooommmmyyyyyy!!!” over and over until I finally go in her room and switch with him.
1:15 a.m. Toddler finally goes to bed. I fall asleep exhausted.
8:00 a.m. Alarm goes off, wakes up toddler—dang it! Jump into shower. Husband gets baby.
8:30 a.m. Try to heat up some leftover pancakes. Toddler wants to sit in my lap and have me read her a book while I attempt to eat lukewarm pancakes.
9:00 a.m. Husband drops coffee cup on the way to the bathroom to potty train toddler—it gets on the walls, ceiling, his face…everywhere.
9:10 a.m. Forget to put part of the coffeemaker into the pot. Coffee goes everywhere. Clean it up. Coffee is still everywhere.
9:30 a.m. Finally get dressed. Toddler is screaming “Moooooooommmmmyyyyy!!!” over and over from the other room. Come out to say goodbye. Toddler won’t let me put her down and screams and cries every time I do.
9:50 a.m. Say goodbyes. Leave the house. Head to coffeeshop to work.
10:15 a.m. Scan my e-mails. Reply to important ones. Get to work writing.
Whew! It’s going to be a day!
(And don’t worry, it’s not always so stressful. Plus, I got lots of hugs and kisses while trying to get the little one down last night.)
